Who signs the opinion
Fauzi Hassan Choukr — Brazilian Bar, São Paulo Section (OAB/SP) 542.772
Fauzi Hassan Choukr is consulting counsel and legal adviser, admitted to the Brazilian Bar, São Paulo Section (OAB/SP), under no. 542.772. He served as public prosecutor with the São Paulo State Public Prosecution Service from 1989 to 2025; he holds a doctorate and a master's degree in criminal procedure from the University of São Paulo and completed post-doctoral research at the University of Coimbra.
The scholarship underpinning his practice covers an annotated Code of Criminal Procedure, constitutional safeguards in criminal investigation, emergency criminal procedure, conventional and international criminal procedure, and transitional justice — a guarantee-based approach in dialogue with Ferrajoli and with Italian and Ibero-American doctrine. It amounts to more than seventy published works and over three thousand citations recorded in academic repositories.
Three decades inside the criminal justice system, first for the prosecution and now as consulting counsel, make it possible to anticipate the opposing argument before it is put — which is, in the end, what a legal opinion is retained for.
